Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center – San Luis Obispo, California

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center is a 200-bed, acute-care provider of tertiary services to San Luis Obispo County. Since it’s inception in 1959, it has grown into one of the leading providers of high-level medical services on the Central Coast. The hospital has added many advanced services as the community has grown. This legacy continues with the hospital’s development of one of the most advanced cardiac centers in the county. The Birth Center at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center provides a comprehensive range of obstetric and infant services.

The center includes labor-delivery-recovery (LDR) suites, a community-level newborn nursery and a neonatal intensive care unit. Neonatologists are on site and provide 24-hour coverage. The dedicated nursing staff has experience in regular and high-risk birth and pediatric care. Patient-centered, family-oriented care is offered for patients whose diagnoses include neurological disorders, orthopedic surgeries, spinal cord and brain injury, stroke, arthritis and oncology.

Travelers are treated with dignity and respect while they are here. I sometimes do the traveler orientations, giving them brochures on the area and telling them where all the good shopping and eating places are. I give them my phone number in case they need to reach me for any questions about the area or for anything at all!. We have converted over 12 travelers to join our staff as full time RN’s in the last year. RN’s love to work here.

In addition to being the home of our fantastic hospital, our town of San Luis Obispo is a great place to visit! The Central Coast of California is the start of the Big Sur coastline of California, and home of one of California’s most popular attractions, Hearst Castle.

Hand-in-hand with the area’s natural beauty, there are lots of things to see and do in San Luis Obispo–a charming downtown with great dining, shops and nightlife; arts center; Mission Plaza; historical walking tours; Children’s Museum; world-class performing arts center; and wine country tours. There are special events almost every weekend!
