Founded a half-century ago Harrison Memorial has evolved from a small local hospital to one of the region’s busiest medical centers. The hospital boasts an impressive range of specialties, services and programs and staffs over 2,200 employees and 450 physicians. Harrison is licensed for 297 beds and it’s two ER’s average 64,000 visits annually. Harrison’s oncology services, long recognized as a “Center of Excellence” provides a full range of advanced cancer treatments with the newest drug protocols, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, and chemotherapy regimens. The unit was designed with the comfort of the patients in mind. Harrison’s cancer program has been accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer as a community hospital comprehensive cancer program for more than 20 years. Only one in four American hospitals receives approval by the 70-year-old commission, which establishes national standards and monitors progress in the areas of treatment, educational programs, and cancer registry. Other noteworthy programs at Harrison Memorial include: Orthopedic Services, Labor & Delivery, the Pediatric Unit, and their Surgical Services.
