LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (February 27, 2014) – Travel Nurse Across America, a North Little Rock, Arkansas-based healthcare staffing agency was named 2014 Arkansas Business of the Year by Arkansas Business Publishing during the annual dinner held at the Statehouse Convention Center on February 25.
Since 1998, Arkansas Business Publishing has honored the state’s top businesses and nonprofits with the annual Arkansas Business of the Year Awards. Readers nominate businesses state-wide, and an independent panel of judges selects the winners based on the company’s growth, successes, and contributions in its specific industry. Awards are given in three categories based on company’s size. Travel Nurse Across America won in Category II which is for medium sized businesses.
“All of us – myself, our board, our investors, our employees, our travel nurses – we are all so honored to have received this award,” said CEO and President Gene Scott. “It validates all of the hard work we’ve put in over the past years, making this company what it is today.”
Founded in 1999, the North Little Rock company has 55 corporate employees and places travel nurses on assignment in all 50 states. Travel nurses typically work 13-week assignments, filling voids when hospitals experience nursing shortages or need nurses with specialized skills in particular departments.
Travel Nurse Across America’s revenue increased 72% in 2012, 62% in 2013, and Scott projects an in excess of 40% for 2014. Scott says aging baby boomers combined with an ever increasing nurse shortage are part of what is driving the growth of Travel Nurse Across America. By 2020, it’s estimated that there will be more than 1 million unfilled nursing positions across the country. “We plan to add another dozen employees at the corporate office this year and at least 100 new travel nurses,” said Scott.
Travel Nurse Across America was also recently named one of the top four travel nurse agencies to work for by TravelNurseCentral.com. Top agencies are chosen by active travel nurses and TNAA was ranked in the Gold tier, the highest category.
