Featured Hospital University Medical Center
Las Vegas, Nevada
What happens in Las Vegas, is supposed to stay in Las Vegas...but when it comes to University Medical Center, it is just too great a secret to keep! University Medical Center has been serving the health care needs of Southern Nevada since 1931, when a dusty dirt road was the only way to reach the fledgling 20-bed hospital and its one doctor and one nurse. At that time the population of Las Vegas was a mere 4,000. As Las Vegas grew to the sensory overloading oasis it is today, University Medical Center grew right along with it.
The hospital is now a state-of-the-art Level 1 Trauma center, and the only advanced facility to offer a specialized team of medical professionals prepared to respond to the needs of southern Nevada's severely injured 24 hours per day. University Medical Center is also home to the Lion's Burn Care Center, the states only burn care facility, and also operates a comprehensive free-standing unit devoted solely to physical medicine and rehabilitation. April of this year marked the grand opening of a new Toys-R-Us Children's Fund-Starlight Site, an awesome playroom designed to bring much-needed joy and playtime to pediatric patients at UMC. With shooting stars across the ceiling, interactive games, and specially designed play areas for infants, toddlers and older children, the Starlight Site serves as a safe, relaxing space where UMC's child life specialists are able to treat pediatric patients utilizing dolls, books and activities to explain medical, and surgical procedures. It is also one of the many reasons UMC has been named to the 2006 list of best places to work in the government category by the Southern Nevada Human Resource Association.
An affiliate of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, UMC recognizes that it's most valuable resource, by far, is it's people. The staff at UMC, from volunteers to highly-specialized physicians, are highly praised for listening to the needs of each and every patient, and diligently giving patients the attention and respect they deserve. At the very heart of patient care is it's nursing staff which ministers not only to physical needs of patients, but also to the unique emotional needs of patients and their family members. This exceptional sensitivity and expertise, combined with progressive technology and education, keep University Medical Center moving toward the future as a top choice for all health care needs. So call, or email a Travel Nurse Across America recruiter today and find out how you can serve in this outstanding facility. Now that you know the secret of University Medical Center you can...stay, play and earn some pay in Las Vegas!
